I don't have a answer for this since I don't play sports and don't know all the names of company's that make sports gear.

gear as in apparel or uniform type gear?
cuz nike got a lot of sweet shirts, asics made some uniforms for a school here n underarmor makes underarmor

Depends for what sport.
Nike for like track.
Underarmour for football.
Asics for wrestling.
Just examples.

i only buy reebok cuz its A.I's sponsor n i have 2 or 3 pairs of iversons n i buy starter cuz its a little cheaper
