sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AvqLBqNR4oSlA3k2ONVtwGt7vLYF?slug=ap-islanders-weightsurgery&prov=ap&type=lgnsNew York Islanders captain Doug Weight(notes) will have shoulder surgery that will certainly finish his season and could also end the center’s 18-year NHL career. The 39-year-old Weight has a torn rotator cuff and labrum in his left shoulder, injuries sustained in November. He has played through the pain, but said Saturday before the Islanders’ morning skate in advance of their game against New Jersey that he will undergo surgery Thursday. Weight had only one goal and 16 assists in 36 games this season. New York began Saturday in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, 11 points off the playoff pace with only 15 games remaining. “It was probably inevitable and I don’t know if I would’ve made it through the year even if we were in eighth or ninth,” Weight said. “But I don’t regret trying it.”

who cares. hes sucks anyways. only a matter of time before tavaras is captain. Doug Weight was one of the best players in the NHL back when he was on the Oilers (his best years). Now he isnt on the team for scoring goals, hes there for helping players like Tavares get better and there for leadership role.

Thanks.
I hope he gets to retire on his own, and not because of a stupid injury he's been fighting for 4 months.
