I bowl here -
I'm a two-time JBT Champion, Runner up bowler of the Year for New England. I've traveled throughout New York, CT, Jersey, Pennsylvania for bowling events held. I've accrued over $5,000 bowling competitively in only the two years at the tournament level. All this money is in scholarship, as cash prizes are not award in junior bowling.
Some people question whether bowling is a REAL sport.... My answer is YES! It's unclear why we aren't in the olympics. The basic rules of the olympics is that the sport must carry competitions in most countries and be popular among both men and women.. Bowling is (believe it or not) the most participated sport in America - With about 50% of the population bowling each year. The reason bowling gets a bad "rap" about being a sport is that ANYONE can bowl. You can get hung over at a bar and bowl. 100 year old people can bowl, as well as 1000 pound individuals. However, higher competitors of bowling are in great shape and are not those people you see every day lingering in the bowling alleys.
If you want to talk - Feel free to message me. Thanks!

I want to bowl collegiately - There are many opportunities with scholarships that the United States Bowling Congress offers.
I'm looking at Sacred Heart University, Marist, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, William Paterson ... Basically looking for both good bowling and academic programs with schools located in either New York, CT, New Jersey or Florida

Congrats on your enthusiasm and love of a great sport, bowlingfanatic. I am thrilled to see a junior bowler with your enthusiasm and dedication. I am a 62 year old bowler that bowls 4 nights a week. I am not a great bowler, and only carry an average that hangs around 175 or 180 anymore. I used to carry 200 or better when I was younger, but the back and knees don't cater to that kind consistent speed, balance, and endurance any more. I have had back surgery and have a cage and a couple of screws in my back, so I tend to get a little sore and tired by the third game. The night before last was a perfect example. I bowled back to back 267's and then finished with a 173 when I could no longer keep up with the oil dragging down, and the ability to adjust, causing me to miss several pockets, leaving some ugly splits, haha. Last year I was president of two local leagues, and vice president of the third. I am also on the board of directors for our local bowling association and active in the Virgina State organization. (We straddle the border of Va and Tn here in Bristol, so our men's organization is in Va and the women's is in Tn and we have local houses in both Tn and Va. At our recent USBC Virgina association jamboree in Staunton Va, we focused mainly on promoting junior bowling, YABA, collegiate bowling and the desire to promote varsity bowling in the schools, to prepare bowlers for collegiate and adult league bowling. I also kick in a $100 contribution annually for some youth that might not be able to afford to travel to the state YABA tournament to be able to go. YOU and other youth bowlers and junior bowlers ARE the future of bowling. People my age that have bowled for 30 and 40 years can only do what we can to support you younger folks in your efforts to promote the sport and to keep it popular and fun. Congratulations on your accomplishments, and keep up the good works my friend.

Wow, very impressive!! I believe that there needs to be more scholarship leagues. The SMART Fund is an excellent program of USBC and holds scholarship funds for bowlers for their accomplishments. apps.bowl.com/smart/index.aspx
