Caught a nine-pounder in southern Indiana once. Biggest I ever took in freshwater, however, was a nine and a half I didn't catch. The rascal jumped into the boat with me. They were hitting almost anything on top that day, and the veteran fisherman with me theorized that it was jumping at the reflection off my watch. I hit him with an oar, because I was afraid if he jumped in, he could jump out.
